When Alusine Mansaray published his recent Facebook posts promoting his book about Fatima Jabbie Bio, he attempted to position himself as a neutral, well-researched scholar defending the First Lady against what he calls “unnecessarily hostile” attacks. He claims my book, The UNBECOMING Mrs. Maada Bio of Sierra Leone: A Case of First Lady Syndrome, is born of ignorance, greed, and envy.
But Alusine Mansaray is not a “public commentator” as he claims to be, nor an independent voice who came off the streets and volunteered to write the truth. He is a paid thug and weaponized family member hired by First Lady Fatima Jabbe Bio to carry out a calculated cyber-bullying campaign in her attempt to silence me.
To understand the depth of Fatima Bio’s viciousness, the public must know who Alusine Mansaray actually is. Alusine is the cousin of my late mother, Haja Mbalu Mansaray (May Allah be pleased with her). He is the son of her beloved uncle, Karaba Mansaray, whom she fondly called Baba Karaba (May Allah be pleased with him). He was not just an uncle to her, but her close confidant.
He was the only one among my mother’s uncles who, like her, moved to Kono, where we lived. This proximity brought a deep family bond between uncle and niece, extending to his wife, Kadiatu, and all their children. Even after Baba Karaba passed away, my mother continued to support his widow and children, encouraging my siblings and me to do the same. We honored this responsibility faithfully, feeding, schooling, and supporting Alusine and his household right up to the birth of Alusine’s first child, shortly before I published my book.
Before I published my book, Alusine had no connection to Fatima Bio. From the time she became First Lady in 2018 until my book was released in 2023, she did not know Alusine Mansaray or anything about our ancestral village of Tuba. But once The UNBECOMING Mrs. Maada Bio exposed her corruption, her immediate response was to intimidate and silence me. Because I live outside Sierra Leone, beyond her thugs’ physical reach, she turned to cyberbullying.
Fatima Bio did not just hire random internet harassers; she deliberately employed the method of Satan: targeting young men within my own family who are ethically and morally weak. Her intention was clear: to silence a social justice activist by turning the very boys I fed and educated against me, thereby destroying a family bond and causing deep division within our community; just as she has done in her husband’s political party, the SLPP.
She financed her nefarious activities using blood money, funds stolen from the government and international donors, even going as far as to hijack official state Hajj scholarships to send Alusine Khairaba Mansaray and the mothers of her other hired cyber thugs to Mecca as reward.
Now, Alusine has produced a fictional counter-book as part of his assigned duties. In a true democracy, free speech is a fundamental right, and I welcome anyone writing a book. But Fatima Bio and Alusine do not believe in free speech; they believe in character assassination and intimidation.
Alusine’s entire marketing strategy for his book relies on leveraging my platform and personal attacks. In his Facebook post, he deliberately attached my personal photo and the cover of my book alongside his own to guarantee that the public sees his work purely as a response to mine. He uses the visibility of my scholarship to promote his paid assignment.
What exposes Fatima Bio’s true nature is her cowardice and malice. Since becoming First Lady, her own brothers and cousins have been handed lucrative business deals in the Gambia and state opportunities in Sierra Leone and abroad. Yet, when it comes time to launch her dirty campaign of cyberbullying other critics and me, she chooses familial destruction; she did not send her own relatives to do the mudslinging. Instead, she chose to destroy the integrity of misguided young men in my mother’s family, using them as disposable tools in her savage arsenal.
Fatima Bio has employed the same tactics in the SLPP. For instance, recently, a party stalwart, Musa Tarawally, publicly revealed how Fatima Bio has used boys in his circle to sabotage his political campaign.
That is how Satan operates, and that makes Fatima Bio a poisonous snake slithering into political camps, families, and communities to leave behind division, destruction, and discord.
