On July 19, 2023, the Sierra Leone State House reported that Julius Maada Bio was given a “Certificate of Return” by Mohamed Kenewui Konneh, the Chief Electoral Commissioner. The State House press added that Mr. Konneh confirmed the results of the June 24, 2023 elections as reflective of what voters expressed at the polls. This confirmation could not be farther from the truth and makes Mr. Konneh a certified elections rigger.
Upon realizing that Mr. Konneh’s appointment letter was dated July 2020, Mama Salone retracted our previous statement that Mr. Bio re-appointed Mohamed Kenewui Konneh as Chairman of the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone. Nonetheless, given that at the time of this post, Konneh remained in his position as the Chairman of the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone, Mama Salone maintains all other suggestions in this article.
In essence, Mr. Konneh’s fraudulent announcement of Mr. Bio winning the June 24, 2023 elections, even before completing the vote-counting process, was a quid pro quo for Konneh to retain his position.
By remaining as chief of ECSL, Mr. Bio fulfilled his side of the bargain to Konneh, who had done his part in the electoral coup d’état plot hatched by the two men. Konneh continuing to be Chief shows that by pronouncing Mr. Bio as the winner of the Presidential elections, Mr. Konneh expected the favor of Maada Bio to retain him in his position as ECSL chief or higher in the Bio Paopa (by force) regime.
As Konneh bestowed certification on Mr. Bio for his fraudulent winning, it is only proper that Konneh too should receive a deserving certificate for curating an amateurish election rigging that helped Maada Bio carry out his electoral coup d’etat, which also helped Konneh keep his job.
Therefore, it has pleased Mama Salone and her People to present this Certificate of Election Rigging to Mohamed Kenewui Konneh for carrying out and sustaining his fraudulent activities from start to finish.
